Katie knows there’s a long asked question with no definite answer: can you wear white after Labor Day? I’m not talking about winter white, which is always chic in colder temperatures. I’m talking about wear-it-with-a-tan summer white.

I used to feel very strongly that summer white could only be worn in t-shirt form between Labor Day and Memorial Day weekend. Perhaps it’s my fair skin, my Mother’s mantra or my affinity for winter white, but I stood hard and fast on this rule. And then, I bought a bright white Venezio Milano jacket with beautiful gold buttons.
Italian-designed Venezio Milano Jacket.
I picked up the jacket at the Knit Wit to wear on Cape Cod and my favorite New England summer and boating destinations, strictly during the summer. But Labor Day came and went without shepherding in cool temps. And when I went to my closet to find a good jacket to walk on the beach on a gorgeous 60 degree day, I went for the summer white.
Now, I get compliments on this jacket year-round. Last summer, it was exiting a coffee shop on a rainy day. Yesterday, it was in the grocery store after a walk on the beach. So, my mind has officially changed. Summer white, winter white – I’ll wear them both no matter the season!
Do you?
Kisses,
Katie
