Sir Paul Smith just showed his fall 2012 RTW and Katie knows some of his menswear-inspired looks are meant to be staples in your closet this autumn.
Sleek, skinny pants paired with tailored little jackets or double breasted overcoats; plaid paired with plaid; a healthy dose of velvet and some killer dresses! Here are my favorites from the Paul Smith new collection:
A classic fall ensemble with the unmistakable Paul Smith twist.
The un-lady suit. To die for.
An incredible little black wrap dress with pocket square!
We’ve seen a bit of this mustard color – so retro and rich – throughout the recent NYFW shows.
And this gorgeous blue! Can’t go wrong with the perfect sweater+skirt combo.
Plaid on plaid. Love the neck of the sweater and the different hues.
Ann Gitter always says, a tight turtleneck can be so sexy. Here’s the proof!

Katie knows the Knit Wit’s Ann Gitter can always spot a fabulous designer. The incredible line A.L.C. by Andrea Lieberman has been carried at my favorite boutique since it was born in 2008.
It’s always fresh and interesting while still classic and chic. I was thrilled when I saw pics of the new designs! Here are some of my favorite looks from A.L.C.‘s fall 2012 RTW collection shown at NYFW:
This mustardy color is featured throughout the collection, paired with black, grays and patterns.
Obsessed with these leather legging pants in both burgundy and black. And this coat, OMG!
Sweet sweaters with a modern Fair Isle paired with short skirts.
So Mad Men! I love the short sleeves.
The sexy version of the ensemble directly above. This may be too hot for the office!
The colors of this maxi dress are subdued yet striking. Pair it with a chunky cardigan for a perfect autumn look.
I am going to seriously need this coat!

Katie knows that a sweet silk blouse can transform your outfit into a sophisticated ensemble. But when you’re heading to a Super Bowl XLVI party, leave the silk at home. Football was made for t-shirts.
That doesn’t mean I want to see you in a mis-shaped, stained t-shirt that should be retired to the cleaning rag pile!

Katie knows a monochrome (one color) look can be put together using any color. But black is tres chic and so very Knit Wit. Not to mention flattering for every figure, slimming in silhouette and complimentary to every skin tone.
Here are some ideas for how to pull off a monochrome black outfit (pay attention to the shoes, ladies!):
Pair this 3.1 Phillip Lim Band Collar Shirt with a black pencil skirt. Leave your legs bare this spring and keep the blouse untucked. You can take this basic look from office to evening with a few simple accessories.
This may look like a dress, but it’s a skirt and shirt! Pair this Halston Heritage Pleated Knit Skirt in Black with any black top that can be easily tucked in and you’ve got a stunning monochromatic look. This skirt can be sexed-up with a slinky top or worn to the office with a blouse. Add a nude heel to elongate your legs!
I love this Gwyneth Shirt by Elizabeth and James because it is so versatile. Shown here with black skinny jeans, like Mother Denim, this outfit can be worn with heels or flats and a variety of accessories. It’s a fab outfit for a Mom on the go who still wants to look chic.
When putting together a monochromatic outfit, remember your accessories and shoes do not need to be the same color as your clothes.
