New Haute Hippie Arrivals!

Friday, November 18th, 2011

To me, Haute Hippie is the ultimate mix of glamour, earth goddess and rock and roll. Romantic, flowing, feminine tops give way to fierce embellished minis. And lucky for us the Knit Wit just got a ton of both!

HAUTE HIPPIE Scalloped Hem Bugle Skirt in Petrol and Bib Blouse w/ Torn Chiffon in Buff

HAUTE HIPPIE Chiffon Cardi with Rib Knit in Black and Overlapping Drape Mini Skirt in Midnight Blue

I regularly check the New Arrivals page on the Knit Wit website in between visits just to see what’s coming in. New Haute Hippie! I’m giddy with excitement.

Trendspotting: Tux-inspiration

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

We’ve seen women rock (or sometimes fail – remember Celine Dion?!) a female version of the classic tuxedo.

Marlene Dietrich in the 1920′s: wearing a tux was taboo then; today, it’s the smoking that’s surprising.

This season, designers have been inspired by the tux, offering women chic pieces which are variations on the James Bond-esque style.  This isn’t a new trend, but it sure is hot right now.  Many female celebrities love wearing tux-inspired pieces:

Jennifer Aniston compliments her sexy look with a tux-like jacket.

Keira Knightly looks fantastic in her tux-inspired suit, pictured with Sienna Miller.

Katie knows you’ll be best suited not wearing tux-inspired pieces to a black tie event but rock this look instead at events like cocktail parties.

Paired with its sequined mini, this Haute Hippie white silk blouse is perfection (both available at the Knit Wit).

Katie

Knit Wit Must-Have Skirts

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

Katie knows you’re a little sad that your tan stems are fading to autumn pale.  But Knit Wit has the skirts you’ll wear now through winter with thick, knit tights, jet black stockings and killer boots.  Just remember, no tan panty hose allowed!

I absolutely adore wearing skirts.  And, when you buy the right skirts you can mix and match a ton of different tops to create new and different looks for each.

Another Bridal Shower? Dress it up!

Monday, June 20th, 2011
Katie knows that bridal showers can become monotonous.  I mean, how many of us really like to watch anyone open present after present after … snooooooooooze!  But, a bridal shower is a special occasion for the bride-to-be.  Whether it’s a sibling, cousin, niece or friend Katie knows you should dress up to celebrate the day.

Diane von Furstenberg: the patron saint of the perfect dress.  You will NEVER go wrong when you put on a DVF.  Her Oblixe Combo Greek Vertical Sleeveless Dress is new for summer: a print s sleeveless dress with v-neckline with a solid black waistband with a tassel rope belt. It’s a wrap skirt with pockets!

If you’re the MOTB, try the DVF Deianira Long Sleeve Wrap Print Dress in Greek Blue.  It has a relaxed cord-wrapped waist and hits just above the knee.  You’ll photograph well and look oh-so chic as you celebrate your daughter’s upcoming nuptials.

Alice + Olivia is giving us so many cool solids, patterns and sequins to choose from this summer.  Take it from the bridal shower to the bach without missing a beat!

The Michael Stars Sleeveless Surplice Dress is so comfortable you’ll never want to take it off.  It hits right above the knee with a sweet, flirty skirt and comes in a bunch of great colors.  With thin straps and an empire waist, this 100% cotton, machine-washable sundress can be dressed up with some bright bling, like Alexis Bittar earrings and bangles!

Super-long dresses are very now and I simply love the Michael Stars Sleeveless Scoop Neck Racerback Dress.  No need to add a belt to this 100% Cotton dress – it has a waistline tie that gives any woman a beautiful silhouette.   Michael Stars dresses are tres affordable – less than $100!
If you are pear shaped, this stunner will flatter you like no other dress.   This Black Label by Paul Smith Sleeveless Print Dress in Multi has removable spaghetti straps and a fab structure that won’t restrict your movement.
If you are the bride-to-be, pick up this amazing LWD (little white dress) from Haute Hippie at KNIT WIT. With 18 covered buttons, this sleeveless silk-gauze dress is covered in gorgeous, intricate embroidery. The ruching at the waist is so flattering and I love the Asian-inspired, stand-up collar.

Some of you may think that putting on a dress is work. Au contraire my little darlings! Katie knows slipping into a dress is a simple and easy way to look fab for your bestie’s bridal shower.

Kisses,

Katie
