BluGirl Sophistication

Monday, March 12th, 2012

BluGirl is one of my very favorite European lines from the Blumarine label. Katie knows when you want to feel modern, sexy, feminine and joyful – like a stunning Italian woman – a BluGirl dress does the job every time. And with so many fun upcoming events this spring, you need a killer dress.

Meet the designer behind BluGirl: “Anna Molinari’s world is one of seduction and charm, great vitality and a spontaneous sense of fun,” says the website. “Her nickname sums her up perfectly: the queen of roses, on account of her fondness for these magical and sensual flowers which represent the image of the Blumarine label and symbolically embody its ideal of femininity.”

Ms. Molinari’s famous Blu-Vi, the small cardigan in cashmere with a mink collar, has been worn by countless celebrities. Here are some of new incredible dresses for spring and summer 2012:

Reflections on the DVF Fall Line

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

The KNIT WIT has been blessed with racks and racks of the new fall line from Diane von Furstenberg.  If you are like me, you’ve been looking, longingly, at the pieces you picked up last week in Center City and Bryn Mawr, waiting for the autumn temperatures to allow for wearing them.  If you were silly enough to miss the trunk show in Pennsylvania, not to worry!  It’s at the KNIT WIT in Margate, NJ through Sunday, August 14th!

Ms. von Furstenberg has given us some new and classic dress styles to rock in the coming months.  There’s a lot of bright blues and greens paired with muted retro colors like cranberry, gold and chocolate.  And the patterned dresses are obvious DVF with a new flair.  She’s offering some killer pants, skirts and tops but Katie knows every woman needs a selection of DVF dresses in her closet.

Here’s a sampling of what you need for fall:

Aurora Mini Dress in Red Spice.

Golda Dress in Indian Daisy: snap closures, self-belt, and slit pockets!

New Tunis Dress in Liquid Blue.

Ahadahy Dress.

Rigmore Striped Dress – nearly 50% wool, super soft knit.

Addison Embossed Ostrich Tote in Emerald – must-have bag for fall!

Stop into the KNIT WIT to check out these amazing pieces and more!

Katie

Another Bridal Shower? Dress it up!

Monday, June 20th, 2011
Katie knows that bridal showers can become monotonous.  I mean, how many of us really like to watch anyone open present after present after … snooooooooooze!  But, a bridal shower is a special occasion for the bride-to-be.  Whether it’s a sibling, cousin, niece or friend Katie knows you should dress up to celebrate the day.

Diane von Furstenberg: the patron saint of the perfect dress.  You will NEVER go wrong when you put on a DVF.  Her Oblixe Combo Greek Vertical Sleeveless Dress is new for summer: a print s sleeveless dress with v-neckline with a solid black waistband with a tassel rope belt. It’s a wrap skirt with pockets!

If you’re the MOTB, try the DVF Deianira Long Sleeve Wrap Print Dress in Greek Blue.  It has a relaxed cord-wrapped waist and hits just above the knee.  You’ll photograph well and look oh-so chic as you celebrate your daughter’s upcoming nuptials.

Alice + Olivia is giving us so many cool solids, patterns and sequins to choose from this summer.  Take it from the bridal shower to the bach without missing a beat!

The Michael Stars Sleeveless Surplice Dress is so comfortable you’ll never want to take it off.  It hits right above the knee with a sweet, flirty skirt and comes in a bunch of great colors.  With thin straps and an empire waist, this 100% cotton, machine-washable sundress can be dressed up with some bright bling, like Alexis Bittar earrings and bangles!

Super-long dresses are very now and I simply love the Michael Stars Sleeveless Scoop Neck Racerback Dress.  No need to add a belt to this 100% Cotton dress – it has a waistline tie that gives any woman a beautiful silhouette.   Michael Stars dresses are tres affordable – less than $100!
If you are pear shaped, this stunner will flatter you like no other dress.   This Black Label by Paul Smith Sleeveless Print Dress in Multi has removable spaghetti straps and a fab structure that won’t restrict your movement.
If you are the bride-to-be, pick up this amazing LWD (little white dress) from Haute Hippie at KNIT WIT. With 18 covered buttons, this sleeveless silk-gauze dress is covered in gorgeous, intricate embroidery. The ruching at the waist is so flattering and I love the Asian-inspired, stand-up collar.

Some of you may think that putting on a dress is work. Au contraire my little darlings! Katie knows slipping into a dress is a simple and easy way to look fab for your bestie’s bridal shower.

Kisses,

Katie
