My November Wish List

Katie knows you still haven’t purchased some of the essentials you need for autumn and winter: new dresses, new coats, new boots and bags.  While I’ve picked up some fantastic new staples (DVF dresses and Splendid leggings from Plage Tahiti; J Brands + Citizens of Humanity denim and Autumn Cashmere sweaters from from Knit Wit) there are a couple of things I’m coveting to ensure I look sharp through the New Year.

Reflections on the DVF Fall Line

The KNIT WIT has been blessed with racks and racks of the new fall line from Diane von Furstenberg.  If you are like me, you’ve been looking, longingly, at the pieces you picked up last week in Center City and Bryn Mawr, waiting for the autumn temperatures to allow for wearing them.  If you were silly enough to miss the trunk show in Pennsylvania, not to worry!  It’s at the KNIT WIT in Margate, NJ through Sunday, August 14th!

 


 

Ms. von Furstenberg has given us some new and classic dress styles to rock in the coming months.  There’s a lot of bright blues and greens paired with muted retro colors like cranberry, gold and chocolate.  And the patterned dresses are obvious DVF with a new flair.  She’s offering some killer pants, skirts and tops but Katie knows every woman needs a selection of DVF dresses in her closet.

Summer 2011 Trend: Color Blocking

Color blocking is super hot this summer.  You’ve seen it on the uber chic waltzing down Walnut: when clothes are made stitching various solid color fabrics together, the result can be a color blocking dream.

Pippa’s Perfect Style

Pippa, Pippa, Pippa: we adore thee. Katie knows if you want to copy the fashions of the most famous sister-in-law in the world, you’ll need to follow some easy rules.
  1. Keep It Simple: solids over patterns
  2. Cover The Girls: no cleavage
  3. Stick to the Classics: styles that never die

 

If you like Pippa’s white dress, you’ll love Catherine Malandrino’s Sleeveless Crochet Dress in Blanc. It has a crochet overlay and an attached lightweight knit underlay slip.

 

London is a bit cooler than the Delaware Valley in the summer, so Pippa has been rocking some long sleeves and pants recently. I love how she plays with feminine, neutral tones.



To copy this look in warmer temps, try Brochu Walker’s Nude Silk Ruched Tank paired with Adriano Goldschmied’s The A.C.U. Patch Pocket Capri in Supply.

Katie knows you can’t go wrong in jeans, a bright top and a blazer. Pippa is classically chic here, but a boot-cut or slightly flared jean would have done this outfit better.

Another Bridal Shower? Dress it up!

Katie knows that bridal showers can become monotonous.  I mean, how many of us really like to watch anyone open present after present after … snooooooooooze!  But, a bridal shower is a special occasion for the bride-to-be.  Whether it’s a sibling, cousin, niece or friend Katie knows you should dress up to celebrate the day.

Diane von Furstenberg: the patron saint of the perfect dress.  You will NEVER go wrong when you put on a DVF.  Her Oblixe Combo Greek Vertical Sleeveless Dress is new for summer: a print s sleeveless dress with v-neckline with a solid black waistband with a tassel rope belt. It’s a wrap skirt with pockets!

If you’re the MOTB, try the DVF Deianira Long Sleeve Wrap Print Dress in Greek Blue.  It has a relaxed cord-wrapped waist and hits just above the knee.  You’ll photograph well and look oh-so chic as you celebrate your daughter’s upcoming nuptials. 


Alice + Olivia is giving us so many cool solids, patterns and sequins to choose from this summer.  Take it from the bridal shower to the bach without missing a beat!
